Abstract: The AMRC has a requirement for equipment to manufacture precision preformed coils for high-performance electrical machines for use in prototyping and development work. By way of indication, the suite of equipment might include a linear winding machine, coil stretching/shaping machine, and presses for shaping and consolidating resin-rich taped coils. Whilst capability exists in industry to produce such pre-formed coils upwards of around 0.5 m to several metres long, the current requirements demand the same control over geometry on coils from tens to several hundred millimetres in length.
