Planning and manufacturing a base plate for a heat storage unit Stadtwerke Flensburg GmbH operates a thermal power plant to generate electricity and district heating on the property at Batteriestrasse 48 in 24939 Flensburg. This was the location in 2024 Heat storage 2 put into operation. This is available to the district heating supply of the city of Flensburg as a buffer storage with a capacity of around 29, 000 m3 of treated district heating water. Originally this heat storage was parallel integrated into the heat storage 1, which has been operating at the location of the thermal power plant for around 50 years. After the heat storage 2 was commissioned, a condition assessment of the heat storage 1 was carried out, which showed that renovation was necessary cannot be implemented given the economic conditions. For this reason, the heat storage 1 is currently being dismantled and replaced as planned by the new heat storage 3 to be built at the same location. The heat storage 3 is a pressureless heat storage with a steam cushion, identical in construction to the heat storage tank 2 already in operation at the location.
