In a multi-stage project, the Fraunhofer Society (FhG) is planning to set up a “research production battery cell” (FFB), in which the novel battery cell concepts and processes will be combined with digitalized, flexible and modular manufacturing methods should be combined and researched. The aim of the FFB is to reduce the development effort for the highly scaled production of the latest lithium-ion battery cells. In this way, the FFB is intended to reduce the risk of industrial partners when transferring new types of technology Cell concepts and production technologies can be significantly reduced in large-scale production and the barriers to entry for new manufacturers can be significantly reduced.
