Tender Details

The “Bamberg node” project is part of the “German Unity Transport Project 8.1” (VDE 8.1) and is located there in planning approval section 22 (PA 22). The measures connect to the southern PA 21 (Hirschaid) and the northern PA 23 (Hallstadt). The PA 22 thus forms the gap between the two sections and is mainly located in the densely built-up urban area of ​​Bamberg. The project includes the four-track expansion of the existing route 5900 Nuremberg - Bamberg from the north of the municipality Strullendorf through the newly built parallel line 5919 to the Bamberg train station (Bf), the adjustment of the track plan and the platforms in the Bamberg junction itself as well as the four-track expansion of the line 5100 Bamberg - Hof through the continuation of the Route 5919 parallel to the existing route to the subsequent PA 23. The project also includes the new construction of route 5107 to reconnect the Bamberg port as well as the new construction of the Bamberg Süd stop between the tracks on the route 5900. As part of the expansion, the Bamberg junction will continue to be equipped with new signal box technology and the ETCS Level 2 train control system.
