Description : Training on "Analyzing and Understanding Non-State Armed Groups" for MINUSCA Staff The recent signing of the peace agreement, closely supported by MINUSCA, the AU and several bilateral and multilateral partners, has offered a new hope of peace for the country. A key segment of the agreement commits to the armed groups putting down their weapons, reintegrating into society and engaging in political processes. In order for substantive staff members of MINUSCA to understand the nature of the conflict, analyse its dimensions, and support the nation on its forward path to peace and stability, we have to better understand the drivers of the conflict. In this regard, an understanding and analysis of non-state armed groups forms the crucial first steps. The Mission seeks to enhance the knowledge and understanding of non-state Armed Groups among its relevant substantive staff members within JMAC, PAD, PoC, CAS, FOs, etc., which will assist them in mandate implementation. This learning will enhance the staff`s ability inter alia to observe, report and analyze; conduct a mapping; and follow-up and support the dynamics associated with the planned decentralization, deconcentration, and DDR activities of the GoCAR in the implementation of the peace accord. This training will also boost the Mission`s knowhow when it comes to supporting democratic processes as these armed groups start engaging in electoral activities.
