Expression of Interest are invited for Support Study for The Implementation of Human-Elephant Conflict Mitigation Measures.

The services provided for under this contract include, among others: (i) the production for the project area of a map of social and environmental dynamics which will specifically take into account the dynamics of the habitat and human-elephant interactions; (ii) carrying out the inventory of human-elephant conflicts; (iii) development of an appropriate human-elephant conflict management strategy based on legislative and regulatory data, socio-economic and demographic data as well as data on the status of said conflicts; (iv) the proposal for a flexible assistance mechanism for victims of damage caused by elephants; (v) development of information/communication/awareness-raising material consisting of a “technical manual” dedicated to political leaders, conservation authorities, extension workers, and a “farmer-s handbook”, describing the different possible strategies for (a) protecting against elephants, (b) mitigating the problem, (c) promoting the prevention of human-elephant conflict; (vi) the proposal of the appropriate technique of communication on the methods of prevention and mitigation of human-elephant conflicts. The mission, to be carried out in two phases, will last six (06) months, including the periods devoted to the review of the deliverables.
