Description:- Metropolitan Trading Company (MTC) hereby invites service providers to submit tenders for Supply, Installation and Maintenance of Containerized Data Centres/Modular Data Centres to the specification required by MTC. This Procurement is intended to be implemented in 2016/2017 Financial year for a period of three years. The service providers will be expected to have the necessary stature and extensive experience for Supply, Installation and Maintenance of Containerized Data Centres/Modular Data Centres. Only tenderers who have service Expertise as contained in the Tender Data are eligible to submit tenders. Metropolitan Trading Company (Pty) Ltd (also referred to as "MTC") is a newly established municipal entity that is fully owned by the City of Johannesburg (also referred to as "CoJ"). MTC aims to create better lives for the citizens of Johannesburg and realise the City`s vision of Johannesburg being "a world class African city" by achieving the following four strategic objectives: Enable the City to improve service delivery. Reduce costs for the City. Increase competition and entrepreneurship in the technology sector. Bridge the digital divide. MTC aims to achieve these objectives through three key focus areas: Network Services - The entity owns and operates approximately 1 150 km existing fibre optic network, an extensive foot print of active network equipment and international bandwidth connectivity. Wholesale dark and lit fibre services are provided to CoJ and the several external customers in the open market. ICT services - Exclusively provide CoJ and the MOE`s with communication services with the aim of reducing costs of the City. An ICT transition plan is being developed for implementation in the short / medium term. Enabling of smart city initiatives - Create a platform for free connectivity to be provided to residents with a socio - economic objective of bridging the digital divide.
