The German Naval Museum is planning to optimize the storage situation for the long-term and safe preservation of the collections. For this purpose, a new depot is to be built in Wilhelmshaven Ruestersiel. In addition to the actual depot with a gross floor area of ​​approx. 1, 770 square meters, there are also additional ones immediately adjacent Functional areas with a gross floor area of ​​approx. 400 sqm are planned. In addition, the depot should have the possibility of expansion. There is a recognized needs budget for the KG 300, 400 and 600 for the depot including functional areas amounting to approximately EUR 3.88 million (gross) (basis: 2021 cost status). The planned construction project is a federally funded construction project. The project is therefore subject to review by an official body. The donors and the building administration reserve the right to review the design in terms of its cost-effectiveness and economy required to optimize. When planning, ecological aspects and aspects of sustainable construction/sustainable operation of the building must be taken into account. The construction project is due to be completed by December 31st, 2027 (handover and commissioning), and the overall completion is due by June 30th, 2028 (Completion of final audits and proof of use) planned.
