In 2022, the World Bank Group (WBG) completed a study on the assessment of the plastic value chain in the first phase of a PROBLUE project to support the tourism sector developing new circular economy guidelines. The second phase of this PROBLUE project will support i) the expansion of the hotel and restaurant plastic reduction program, ii) Support the development of a green taxonomy platform (including inputs to the Plastic Waste and Single Use plastic policy which highlights Green taxonomy, labeling, certification, and procurement to support a circular transition) and iii) undertake an information and dissemination campaign on the results of phase one to sensitize information with all the stakeholders.
