Tender Details
Request for proposals are invited for Socio Economic Surveys and Analysis.
Conservation South Africa, is an affiliate of Conservation International and committed to promoting sustainable development that values and considers nature, while also improving human well-being through the preservation of healthy ecosystems and the benefits they offer. In Africa, many people rely on the oceans for their livelihoods and economic growth, with 38 of Africa-s 54 nations being coastal or island states. However, Africa's marine areas are among the most vulnerable and least protected in the world due to a lack of effective governance, overuse of natural resources, and climate change. It's crucial that we reverse these trends to ensure that Africa's oceans can continue to sustain its people.
Our vision for South Africa and Africa is to manage coastal and marine biodiversity sustainably, providing long-lasting benefits to biodiversity, food security, livelihoods, economic development, climate stability, and resilience. We aim to value, maintain, and enhance the contributions of South Africa's coastal and marine ecosystems to people, present and future.
Conservation South Africa is embarking on developing their oceans strategy and develop a seascape approach along the west coast of South Africa, Namakwa District. We are beginning our engagement with the coastal communities along the west coast including Port Nolloth, Kleinsee and Hondeklipbaai as we kick start a project that is looking at the feasibility of kelp/seaweed and related industries in the area we will be developing a deep understanding of the needs, skills, opportunities and impacts on these coastal communities.
Deadline. Proposals must be received no later than 29 February 2024 close of business (GMT+2) Late submissions will not be accepted. Proposals must be submitted via email to csaprocurement@conservation.org. All proposals are to be submitted following the guidelines listed in this RFP.
