“Smart Waste MD” - sensor-supported route optimization in waste disposal in the state capital Magdeburg Implementation and operation of an IT system Funded as part of the state's infrastructure special funds law - Infra-SVG Saxony-Anhalt Basic scope of tasks: In the center and old town of Magdeburg, 436 wastebaskets are to be equipped with IoT sensors to record fill levels. In addition to the procurement and installation of hardware to upgrade existing, urban wastebaskets, the operation and maintenance of an energy-efficient network infrastructure (e.g. LoRaWAN) as well as the implementation of a software solution for route optimization and tour planning are also required. This software is intended to show both the filling level of wastebaskets and calculate a suggestion for needs-based collection routes for emptying. Dashboards or map views should also be provided to help drivers during their Waste tour offer support by displaying how full a certain bin is. A flexible, web-based data interface for the software is also required, which enables future development and integration with third-party systems and urban smart city infrastructure.
