The system should be suitable for the examination of solid and liquid samples, thin films and gels and for the characterization of polymers in particular, plastics, biomaterials, pharmaceutical formulations and nanomaterials. A particular focus of application is the SAXS-based investigation of the morphology and pore structure of fibers, especially carbon fibers and their precursors. The aim is to determine application-relevant structural parameters such as pore size, size distribution, pore shape and orientation in order to specifically clarify the connection between structure and properties of the materials.
