The signal box technology used in the ESTW-A Neukölln (S-Bahn) is based on the SIMIS C design, which has been discontinued by the manufacturer Siemens. The continued operation of this technology is associated with increased maintenance costs and due to the increasing limited availability of spare parts can no longer be guaranteed in the long term.
