The descent to the lower head of the Anderten lock opens up both the lower head (UH) and the counterweight shafts of the lifting gate drives on the island side. Via the entrance house on the lock level you can access the stairwell with a total of four floors down to the UH. The counterweight shafts are accessible via galleries on the 1st and 2nd floors. In order to enable normal maintenance of the counterweights and the lower head, far-reaching measures must be taken: - Restore the Traffic safety through demolition and reprofiling of the affected facing shell. The reprofiling is carried out with a vapor-permeable wall structure with a drainage layer to prevent future moisture damage. - Demolition and replacement of the stairwell landings, -runs and galleries. Due to the damage and the onset of carbonation, this is the only way to reliably restore durability. - Creating a functioning drainage system to reliably drain away the resulting water. In addition includes the creation of a drainage. Likewise, all horizontal components are manufactured with a gradient effective for drainage and connected to the drainage. The vertical components drain via the drainage layer and drainage channels. - The Building equipment must be replaced. This includes the railings, floor drains, lighting, cable ducts, downpipes and bars.
