Hansastraße 27c, 80686 Munich, Germany, represented by Fraunhofer IEG, Am Hochschulcampus 1, 44801 Bochum as the client (hereinafter referred to as AG) plans to drill a vertical exploratory drilling on the RWE Weisweiler power plant site. The planned final depth is around 3140 m. An already constructed drilling site is available for the drilling measures Disposal. An approximately 3, 140 m deep, vertical exploratory borehole called “Weisweiler R1” (WW-R1 for short) is to be sunk on the Weisweiler power plant site of RWE Power AG near Eschweiler near Aachen. The aim is as part of the Reallabor project Rhineland to explore the geothermal potential of the region. The exploratory drilling and accompanying work is carried out by the Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research e.V., represented by the Fraunhofer IEG as AG and Operator taken over. The “Fraunhofer Reallabor Geothermal Energy Rhineland” is funded with around 52 million euros through federal and state programs to support structural change in former coal regions. ...
