General Procurement Notice for Procurement of Goods and the Acquisition of Consultancy Services.

Enhancing Efficiency and Sustainability of Artisanal and Small Scale Mining through Climate Smart Technologies Project.

The project activities to be implemented based on the project
components are as follows:
Component 1: Support Formalisation of Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining
- Train ASMs in relevant mining, processing and HSE programmes to ensure sustainable mining practices;
- Improve environmental conditions in mining sites and communities;
- Improve traceability of minerals produced from pit to export;
- Improve data collection and analysis capacity for accurate mineral production and export statistics;
- Promote gender equality & social inclusion in mining communities.
A total of 5, 000 ASMs are expected to be trained during the project period of 2 years
Component 2: Capacity Building of Mining Sector Regulatory Institutions
- Capacity building of the inspectorate division through Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for inspection and training of inspectors, mining agents and patrol men;
- Review of mine survey procedures and preparation of standard SOPs: Through review of mine survey procedures, development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for mine survey activities and reporting;
- Baseline Study of the ASM sector: Developed through extensive stakeholder consultation to identify current challenges, needs and opportunities;
- Development of an ASM Strategy with a costed action plan;
- Conduct sensitization workshops on effects of mercury pollution on the environment: Mining communities and ASMs;
- Develop guidelines for enforcement of child labour laws in ASM
- Develop an IT aided system to enhance reporting mechanisms in ASM in Real Time
Component 3. Project Management
This entails the management of the day-to-day operations of the project including acquisition of data collection equipment, consumables, support to the project co-ordinating unit and project audit.
