The city of Krefeld would like to participate in the Rhine/Ruhr region's application for the Olympic Games. This was done together with the German Olympic Sports Confederation, the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia and the other 15 potential Host cities agreed to hold a council vote in all municipalities on April 19, 2026. This council vote will be carried out purely as a postal vote. In Krefeld, around 180, 000 people are entitled to vote in this referendum. Allen Eligible voters must receive personalized postal voting documents by March 20, 2026 at the latest. Printing and compiling the postal voting documents for the Olympia council vote on April 19, 2026 The order includes all work steps from the Data transfer through printing and enveloping to the postal delivery of the postal voting documents to a shipping service provider to be determined by the city of Krefeld. The service provider to be commissioned ensures that all work is carried out comply with legal requirements, in particular the NRW Local Elections Act, the NRW Local Elections Regulations, the statutes for the implementation of referendums of the city of Krefeld and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
