TheParis Agreement allows for increased flexibility for countries to determinetheir mitigation targets in the form of Nationally Determined Contributions(NDCs), recognizing countries- differing needs and circumstances. Article 6 ofthe Paris Agreement recognizes that countries may voluntarily cooperate witheach other to deliver on their NDCs in an effort to raise ambition. Botswana-supdated NDC reaffirms its ambitious commitment to reduce fifteenpercent (15%) of its GHG emissions by 2030 relative to business as usual (BAU) witha focus on energy, transport, industry and agriculture, forests, and other landuse (AFOLU) sectors. TheWorld Bank seeks to engage an experienced consultancy firm to support theMinistry of Environment and Tourism in preparing for and participating ininternational carbon markets. The objective of this assignment is to supportthe development of a policy framework for Botswana-s participation in carbonmarkets.
