HOWOGE Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH is one of the six municipal housing companies in the state of Berlin. As part of the Berlin school building offensive, HOWOGE is responsible for the construction and major renovation of schools for the state of Berlin. In this role HOWOGE intends to renovate the Ernst Reuter School, some of which is a listed building, and to partially convert it, as well as to replace the existing buildings that are not economically worth preserving with new and additional buildings. The school in Berlin-Mitte is growing from a 6-4 speed to an 8-4 speed ISS and will have a stacked double sports hall. Before the construction of the new parts of the building and before the renovation and conversion of the existing building, three buildings on the construction site must be dismantled existing buildings (two school buildings, a sports hall) and the complete gutting with partial demolition of another school building required.
