Planning services architect (partial competition), expansion of the western bastion into a visitor center, Schwerin Castle Schwerin Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2024, is to be completely renovated in the area of the western bastion. The aim is to renovate the roof and adjoining rooms Ground floor and basement as well as expansion into a visitor center for the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament. Components should be upgraded in terms of fire protection, statics and building physics and brought up to the current state of the art in terms of usage become. The basis is an EW construction plan drawn up in 2009, which was divided into two construction phases: the 1st construction phase (cloakroom and toilet facilities, completion in 2026) and the following 2nd construction phase (expansion of the western bastion to the... Visitor Center). The original planning must be adapted to current user requirements, while maintaining the architectural concept and the historical character of the site. Changes in route connections and a new location need to be examined for security checks and accessibility improvements. Structural, building physics and fire protection aspects also need to be revised by specialist planners. Built in the 16th century and later used as a coal cellar Westbastion is currently undeveloped and has no floor slab.
