In order to achieve climate apositectivity, MVV consistently pursues its strategy for the use of renewable energies. The planned construction of the district heating heater (FWN) is a central step in the transformation of district heating in Mannheim. Against the background of the further short to In the medium term upcoming decommissioning of the coal -fired existing power plant blocks of the Grosskraftwerk Mannheim AG (GKM), the re -heating of the district heating is an indispensable measure to ensure long -term supply and the necessary temperature requirements in the district heating network. The FWN not only ensures reliable heat supply, but also makes a significant contribution to the decarbonization of district heating. MVV Gruene Warme GmbH plans to set up and operate the establishment and operation of the District heating heaters with a firing heat output of 160 MW. The district heating heater is essentially made of four large water space kettles (steam boiler) with a combustion heat output of 40 MW and a smaller auxiliary steam generator with approx. 2.3 MW.
