Request for proposals are invited for Partner Strategic Alignment/Integration Workshop Facilitator Consultancy.

Conservation International (CI) Liberia and Environment Protection Agency (EPA) have received a
Project Preparatory Grant to develop a Project Document for Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded
impact child project entitled, “Reducing deforestation from palm oil and cocoa value chains.”
The objective of the project is “Farming and forest-dependent communities are more food-secure, while
palm oil and cocoa are produced without deforestation, through the implementation of a transformative,
climate-smart landscape approach.” The project will be implemented in four Counties of Northwest
Liberia landscape including Lofa, Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, and Gbarpolu.
The project has four components including:
i. Development, adoption and implementation of National and NW Liberia Landscape land-use
plans
ii. Promotion of sustainable production practices for food crops, palm oil and cocoa, supported by
responsible value chains
iii. Biodiversity loss reduction and restoration of natural habitats
iv. Management, coordination, collaboration and Monitoring and Evaluation

The project interfaces with diverse partners and stakeholder groups including:
a) International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) such as Conservation InternationalLiberia, Fauna and Flora International (FFI), The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds
(RSPB), the Wild Chimpanzee Foundation (WCF), The Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH), and
World Resource Institute (WRI)
b) Government of Liberia through the Environmental Protection Agency, National Bureau of
Concessions, Forestry Development Authority, Ministry of Agriculture, Liberia Land Authority,
Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Liberia Institute
of Statistics and Geo-Information Services among others
c) National Non-Governmental Organizations such as Society for Conservation of Nature of Liberia
(SCNL)
d) Civil Society Organizations,
e) Local communities and
f) Private sector and/or businesses.

CI would like to contract the services of an independent facilitator to assist with the upcoming partner
strategic alignment workshop. The facilitator will ensure that the workshop is fully participatory and
adheres to best practice in stakeholder engagement.
Key Objectives:
1. Work with CI, INGOs, Government of Liberia, private sector, CSOs, local community members
and others to agree upon the scope and outcomes of the workshop and to design an agenda
accordingly.
2. Facilitate one-day partner strategic alignment/integration workshop
3. Support the team in developing an action plan for next steps and ensure all proceeds are
captured in a workshop report
Specific Outputs
1. Design of the process
2. Design of Participants questions;
3. Familiarizing him/herself with the various mandates of the aforementioned institutions
4. Familiarizing himself/herself with the background on the situation in North West Liberia through
reading and discussions with the team;
5. One-day preparation with the team in Liberia
6. One day of workshop facilitation on 29th October 2019
7. Report of the workshop proceedings

Payments:
• The total budget available for this Facilitator consultancy will not exceed USD 3, 500. This budget includes travel costs, fees and all costs associated with the consultancy.
