The subject of the competition is the conversion and renovation of the Rainbow School in Sinzig and the associated outdoor facilities. As part of the competition, there are already concepts for the structural and material design of the supporting structure, the serial-modular ones Facade renovation as well as overall technical concepts for sustainable and energy-saving operation of all buildings over the entire life cycle must be taken into account. Fire protection issues must also be taken into account when working on the design to think along. In order to maintain school operations at the location and to avoid cost-intensive interim solutions, the sponsor is looking for concepts that explicitly enable the implementation of the measures without interrupting school operations. A realization in several construction phases is conceivable. Trend-setting design contributions are required that take advantage of the possibilities and opportunities of interdisciplinary work in the early phase of the planning competition and show how one economical, sustainable and future-proof design of the Rainbow School can be implemented.
