New building HIPSII.2: VE03.05 - Shell construction work The new building is being built on the campus of Saarland University in Saarbrücken and will be used by the Helmholtz Institute. This is an extension for the first phase of construction Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS) and complements it functionally and architecturally. The extension is planned to the east of the existing building and is connected to the existing building by two bridges, each connecting the office and laboratory corridors connect with that of the new building. The extension is complemented by terraced parking areas integrated into the site to the east. The position of the longitudinal axes of the building is based on the existing structure. The laboratory axis grid was slightly wider than in Inventory chosen to ultimately allow a more flexible device setup. This creates a uniform grid based on a 1.2m base size for the offices and laboratories, which helps simplify construction.
