In order to make the air traffic of the future more environmentally friendly and climate-friendly, the DLR facility technologies for small aircraft-DLR facility KF-for short-was founded in 2020, which operates the innovation center for small aircraft technologies (INK). The ink dedicates the topics of electrical flying and the (inter-) urban mobility with a view to small aircraft against the background of the model of the Rheinische area as a so-called mobility area of ​​the future.

The concept of electrical flying plays a key role for a climate -friendly Aviation. The electrification of aircraft has the potential to minimize emissions locally and to make mobility more quieter and more efficient. Small aircraft can fulfill double benefits in this context.
