2. Justification
In response to this situation, UNICEF is committed in accordance with its mandate and in collaboration and complementarity with other UN agencies, to provide humanitarian assistance to families affected by the disaster in the city of Djibouti, in the camp of the people. displaced from Damerjog as well as within the host community. This assistance will include rehabilitation and / or construction of improved household latrines, promotion of hygiene practices, water treatment at home and creation of additional water points.
To this end, UNICEF has signed partnership agreements with international NGOs SOS Sahel and the Djibouti Red Crescent (CRD) for the implementation of the project to build and rehabilitate family latrines for the benefit of the affected households in the city of Djibouti city and Damerjog area including relocation site of displaced Balbala as well as host communities near the camp.
