Country: Mauritania Description of the mission: the Islamic Republic of Mauritania (RIM) has varied and rich mining potential (including Lor, Salt, Gypsum, Zinc, Luranium, Oil, Gas, Copper, quartz and iron). The country has been a member of LINITIATIVE for transparency in the extractive industries (EITI) since 2005, when it has set up a national committee made up of representatives of the government, the extractive sector and of civil society. The committee's mission is to define the implementation of Litie's principles and standards in Mauritania, in order to undergo that investments in extractive Lindustry contribute to the reduction of poverty and the development of the country. He was committed to regularly publish the extractive profits and the royalties paid to the government and to Lindustrie, as well as to the communities of the basics of the localities where these minerals are extracted.
