They play an important role for biodiversity, the local water balance, the appearance of the landscape and fulfill ecological and economic functions. Improper management can impair water management potential and ecological functions reduce the preservation of biodiversity, degrade the ecological status of these waters and also make it more difficult to restore the natural landscape water balance. However, due to a lack of capacity, they are rarely examined. This project is therefore intended to disclose methods and concepts for the responsible use of small bodies of water.
