Tender Details

The United Nations Procurement Division (UNPD), on behalf of the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), is currently seeking information from manufacturers of bespoke solutions for the mechanical destruction of small arms ammunition of all types and calibres up to a maximum of 12.7mm, includingshotgun ammunition and pyrotechnics. The International Ammunition Technical Guidelines (IATG) 10.10 identifies ammunition demilitarization and destruction as a core aspect of conventional ammunition stockpile management. It defines destruction/demilitarization as "the physical destruction of ammunition, or the use of industrial processes to demilitarize ammunition and recover raw materials for reuse and recycling."Historically, the United Nations has relied on Level 1 destruction methods such as open burning (OB) and open detonation (OD) to dispose of expired or unserviceable ammunition within itsfield missions. However, with increased emphasis on environmental sustainability, UNMAS is now seeking a bespoke Level 2 solution that mechanically destroys small arms ammunition (up to and including 12.7mm), shotgun ammunition, and pyrotechnics. The system should use environmentally responsiblemechanical processes—such as shredding, cutting, crushing, or other forms of physical disassembly—within a controlled and safe environment designed for complete and irreversible destruction. Please be advised that a previous Request for Information (RFI #RFIUNPD23322) was issued in December 2024to...
