ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION
The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group (WBG), fosters sustainable economic growth in developing countries by financing private sector investment, mobilizing private capital in local and international financial markets, and providing advisory and risk mitigation services to businesses and governments to foster access to finance opportunities and financial inclusion.
In October 2017, the IFC Financial Institutions Group advisory services established a partnership with Vodafone M-pesa Mozambique, a leading mobile money operator in Mozambique who is willing to expand its products and services to more people in the country including the unbanked population through a strong network of agents and merchants across the country.
IFC and M-pesa seek to recruit a Merchants Acquisition firm for a period of 9 months that will effectively enroll, train and monitor merchants as well as drive customers usage.
ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility restrictions apply:
The firm should meet the following criteria:
1. At least 7 years experience in customer/merchant acquisition activities in Sub-Saharan Africa (experience in Mozambique would be an advantage).
2. Senior team members with extensive experience in commercial development, mobile money ecosystem creation and monitoring.
3. Ability to mobilize and supervise a large field sales team to support this work.
4. Good knowledge of the telecommunication and mobile money sectors in Mozambique.
5. Fluency in Portuguese.

The World Bank Group now invites eligible firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc. for firms; CV and cover letter for individuals). NOTES
Following this invitation for Expression of Interest, a shortlist of qualified firms will be formally invited to submit proposals. Shortlisting and selection will be subject to the availability of funding.
Only those firms which have been shortlisted will receive notification. No debrief will be provided to firms which have not been shortlisted.
