Marienburg Castle Foundation: Construction phase 2: anchor and shotcrete work The Marienburg Castle Foundation intends to renovate the castle. In construction section 2.1, the slope area to the east is to be secured using a back anchor Shotcrete shell provided. The slope area to be renovated consists of a solid rock wall made of federal sandstone that is up to around 13 m high and inclined up to around 65° from the horizontal. In the upper part of the slope there is an arcade, which is supported on the slope by means of an arch construction. The main supporting element are console stones made of natural stone, which support the vaults and were originally placed on the slope. As a result of penetrating water and spreading vegetation, this occurs continuous, successive loosening of the individual rock slabs and to reduce the rock surface. Most of the support points for the console stones are no longer there. They are currently supported by an emergency steel support. The The arcade is closed and may not be entered. To secure the rock surface, a shotcrete shell should now be applied as a surface support system and anchored back into the rock. The anchor heads should not be visible after completion.
