Dear ladies and gentlemen, We would like to publish EU preliminary information for a liquid starter for the starting motor in the PSW Markersbach and ask you to contact us by email if you can meet the following requirements: The Liquid starter serves as a continuously adjustable resistance in the rotor circuit of a 13.5 MW starting motor with a nominal rotor current of 2, 280 A and thus enables the controlled startup of a 220 MVA pumped storage set to nominal speed within 95…115 sec. By moving electrodes, the resistance in the conductive electrolyte is continuously reduced, whereby the stator current of the starting motor is regulated to a constant value up to the mains connection of the motor generator. The starter 4 start-ups per hour must be planned, with two successive starts at an interval of 7 minutes. Several thousand starting processes are to be expected over the course of the year; this means operation for at least 10 years without replacement to ensure wear-prone parts. The heat lost during starting is dissipated via a closed cooling circuit with a heat exchanger. The system must be equipped with current monitoring, on the basis of which the control of the Actuator motor is regulated.
