As part of the renovation of the Kunsthalle zu Kiel, a complete emptying of the building is planned. Against this background, a preliminary move of around 282 paintings took place between April and May. The remaining works of art will now be removed from the Kunstha as part of a main movell be transported to an interim storage facility and back to the Kunsthalle once the renovation is complete. Furthermore, 283 paintings are stored in a depot in Gottorf Castle, which will also have to be moved and stored after the main move of the art gallery is completed. The storageng is currently planned to last 5 years.
The relocation services involve paintings, sculptures, graphics and coins from the Kunsthalle zu Kiel as well as the Antikensammlung.
The work is scheduled to begin on week 23, 2024.
