Object 1 Psychiatry Functional new building, existing building, interim module construction The Vivantes Klinikum Am Urban, colloquially known as "KAU", is located on Urbanstrasse/Dieffenbachstrasse in Berlin in the Kreuzberg district. The Am Urban Clinic corresponds structurally and conceptually largely similar to a 1960s hospital. It was built in 1968, when neither MRIs nor CT scanners were available. Further developments, including in medical technology, have been reflected in the inventory over the years. Appropriate Reconstruction and expansion measures have taken place in the past. In 1981, an extension with an intensive care unit and operating theater was added. Further intensive renovation and expansion work was carried out in 1987. In the course of elementary necessity Capacity expansions, restructuring measures and necessary renovation measures mean that a new expansion of the hospital and a dismantling of some areas are now absolutely necessary. For this purpose, on the basis of the legally binding Development plan No. VI-65-1 dated February 2, 1981, within the permitted building limits, new buildings will expand the existing existing building structure.
