1 piece hexapol magnet system in Halbach structure with 36 segments in its housing Hexapole for 18 GHz ECRIS A hexapole permanent magnet (Halbach type 36 segments) should be purchased for the new installation of a GSI ion source. The magnet system for one Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source (ECRIS) provides confinement of the plasma to produce highly charged heavy ions. The final magnet system consists of three (3) magnet coils to form the mirror magnetic field in the axial direction and one Hexapole magnets to generate the radial magnetic field. The superposition of these two systems leads to a so-called minimum B configuration of the magnetic field. This magnetic field enables a magnetically stable confinement of the plasma what a Operation as an ion source is required.
