Horticulture is a strategicsubsector in Zimbabwe-s economy, contributing significantly to the country-sagriculture GDP (6.5 percent in 2022) and generating considerable employmentand foreign exchange. As of 2022, the sector employed 18, 700 people.Horticultural exports from Zimbabwe reached US$64.6 million 2021, up fromUS$59.5 million in 2020. The main export fruits are citrus, passion fruit, strawberries, and avocados, while the main export vegetables are mange-toutpeas, French beans, baby corn, sweet corn, baby carrots, chilis, and cherrytomatoes. Despite its promise, Zimbabwe-s horticulture sector facessignificant constraints to further growth, higher export volumes, and jobcreation at scaleThe World Bank is seeking toengage a firm or organization (“the Consultant”) to support the Zimbabwe Privateand Financial Sector Development PASA through a) providing capacity-building toprivate sector horticulture stakeholders for strengthening hub-and-spokemodels; and b) conducting industry and regulatory analysis on Zimbabwe-shorticulture sector.
