The Future Fuels (FF) Institute, founded in 2020, is being expanded at the Jülich site. The aim of the project is to successfully set up and operate a research and technology transfer center that will focus on the development and production of defossilated fuels in the Rhenish district. There is additional space for the planned research tasks in the form of laboratory areas, as well as an expansion of the existing "Synlight" building to include a pre-assembly facility for the development and testing of production technologies of these fuels, required. The "Synlight" contains an artificial sun, which is used to irradiate and analyze a wide variety of experimental setups under controlled conditions.
