The West African Monetary Agency (AMAO) has been mandated by the ECOWAS Head of State Conference to facilitate the implementation of the ECOWAS Payment and Regulation Infrastructure ( EPSS), in accordance with the vision of creation of a single central bank and a single currency. The EPSS project is an initiative which aims to harmonize the various infrastructures of existing payment and settlement systems in ECOWAS by setting up a single regional payment and payment system.
