EVUPlan: “Compact analysis of the effects on piped heat supply through the use of WACCS” In the Federal Government's Carbon Management Strategy, emissions from the TAB are defined as "unavoidable emissions" and therefore politically intended as a use case for CCUS (WACCS). The federal climate protection program presents a concrete path for this. In order to make this technically possible, energy or heat is required at the location to capture the CO2 Greenhouse gas emissions. This heat is generally available on site, but is usually already used for other heating applications. In particular, it serves as a heat source for piped heat supply in metropolitan areas. In the event of CO2 capture now creates competition for this energy. This is where the advertised research project comes in and is dedicated to the effects, especially on the pipe-bound heat supply, of the elimination of (parts of) the Heat extraction from the TAB through the use of carbon capture. The aim of the project is a compact and systematic presentation of the effects and possible solutions, such as both WACCS and a sustainable pipe-bound heat supply can look. To do this, it is necessary to analyze: which greenhouse gas-neutral heat supply technologies could compensate for the loss of waste heat from thermal waste incineration plants, what costs this entails for the operators of the heating networks and whether These are already adequately addressed by the existing funding regime of BEW and KWKG and what costs/revenues will be incurred by operators of thermal waste recycling plants for the loss of heat and electricity revenues, CO2 pricing and possible Income from negative emissions could come from the biogenic portion in the WACCS. The result is a compact overview based on research and our own calculations, which shows which steps...
