The West African Power Pool (WAPP) Secretariat, a specialized institution of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), headquartered in Cotonou, Republic of Benin, has received a financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Solar development in Sub-Saharan Africa Phase 1 (Sahel) and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services
The consulting services (“the Services”) include a feasibility study for a Solar Part “Plug and Play” in Gambia with the total indicative capacity of 150 MW with battery storage. The feasibility study consists of the following main tasks:
1. Data collection;
2. Site selection (preliminary network study for the integration of the Solar Park (s) at the pre-selected substations, identification of potential parcels of land, selection of the final sites and the right of way of connecting to the substation;
· Technical options and preliminary technical design with battery storage;
1. Conditions for the integration of the Solar Pack into electrical network, network connection and a stability study;
2. Integration of the SCADA system;
3. Electricity generation profiles, economic and financial analysis;
· Diagnosis and evaluation of investments for the creation of a national dispatching centre;
· Training programme;
The level of effort to be provided is estimated at 22 man-months. The total mission execution period is estimated to be 32 weeks after the contract is signed. The mission is expected to start around January 2020.
