Tender Details

The QNOx method is a procedure for checking nitrogen oxide emissions in motor vehicles that was developed and validated on behalf of the BASt in two research projects for passenger cars. Since the method is not identical to heavy Commercial vehicles (Heavy Duty Vehicles (HDV)) can be transferred, there is a need for development for an HDV-specific approach. The aim of the research project is to develop and verify the QNOx method for HDV and to formulate one implementable proposal for the type approval regulations. Operational characteristics such as load and extreme driving conditions should be taken into account through appropriate data filtering in order to avoid incorrect assessments. In addition, one should a suitable reference value for NOx emissions from HDV must be established. The development of a QNOx method for HDV can in the future enable the checking of heavy commercial vehicles with regard to their NOx emissions, for example in the PTI or during roadside inspections. This would allow defects in exhaust gas aftertreatment systems to be detected early.
