The client pursues the goal of developing scientifically sound decision-making bases for roads and traffic, in particular for determining the phase transition temperature and quantifying viscosity-changing organic substances Additives (vvoZ) in ready-to-use, temperature-reduced asphalts. Currently, the qualitative proof of vvoZ as part of the construction contract processing has been carried out since 2016 by testing the constant shear rate in the dynamic shear rheometer (DSR). This However, the method only allows a limited differentiation of the types of wax used and only describes the phase transition temperature approximately. In professional circles, dynamic differential calorimetry (DSC) is therefore considered suitable Methods for the more comprehensive determination of these parameters are considered. The aim of the research project is to examine whether DSC can be used as a method for the qualitative and quantitative determination of the phase transition temperature and the proportion of vvoZ in binders is suitable and to close existing knowledge gaps. The benefit lies in particular in the further development and strengthening of test requirements with the phase transition temperature as the central parameter. This will become more important as asphalt mixes will be used in the future should increasingly be manufactured and installed at reduced temperatures, which increases the use of viscosity-modified bitumen and thus the relevance of corresponding test methods.
