EUROPE-WIDE MARKET EXPLORATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SWR LOCATION IN FREIBURG I. Initial situation The SWR is the second largest broadcaster of the ARD. Its broadcast area includes the federal states of Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate, which have around 15 million inhabitants life. The SWR is present throughout Germany through its contributions to the ARD community programs (including Das Erste, online offerings). The SWR Studio Freiburg plays a prominent role within the state broadcasting company. Freiburg is German Center in the border triangle between Strasbourg (France) and Basel (Switzerland). The studio reports daily from this dynamic, cross-border region - southern Baden, Alsace and northwestern Switzerland. The content produced here is of high quality journalistic relevance and require a technically flawless, uninterrupted infrastructure. II. Strategic realignment of the SWR The media landscape is undergoing fundamental change. The convergence of radio, television and online media requires new production environments that can be flexibly adapted to future changes.
