Description: The European Water Framework Directive was introduced in 2000. Your environmental policy is u. a. achieving good chemical status for the groundwater by 2027. The implementation in German law takes place via the groundwater ordinance of November 9, 2010 (last change on May 4, 2017). It regulates the requirements for monitoring and assessing the chemical status of groundwater nationwide.
Regular groundwater studies are required to fulfill the obligations under the EU WFD to determine and assess the chemical groundwater status. The so-called "Operative Monitoring" (OpM) includes groundwater sampling and analysis in groundwater bodies that are currently in a poor chemical state according to the EU WFD.
