Tender Details

The Objective of the Programme is to Re-establish sustainable livelihoods and kick-starting economic activities of the affected populations of Tropical Cyclones Idai and Kenneth constitutes the overall objective of the current project. In this sense, the project aims firstly at providing farmers with inputs and implements to prepare for the 2019 agricultural campaign in order to avert a long term food crisis in the affected areas, where agriculture is the main source of livelihoods; and secondly restoring the most relevant infrastructures networks of power distribution and road connections to enhance regional integration through the re-habilitation of the transport system linking the port of Beira with Zimbabwe and Malawi and the repair and upgrades of the power transmission system and other energy related infrastructure that serve the Southern African Power Pool. In building the early warning systems and the meteorological forecasting capacity of the relevant institutions in Mozambique, the project will create a regional public good benefitting climate disaster management system across the region.
