The project includes the complete redesign of Willy-Brandt-Platz in the trade fair city of Riem on behalf of the building department. Goal is a climate-adapted, biodiverse open space design with various lounge and exercise zones, optimized accessibility and sustainable improvement in quality of life. The measure is the result of a multi-stage participation process and is particularly close to nature Vegetation areas, new trees/large bushes, infrastructure renovations as well as multifunctional use areas and fountain systems. Execution is planned for the period 2026 to 2027.
To conserve resources, the existing surface should be made of natural stone paving (quartzite sandstone) must be carefully dismantled. Due to the heterogeneous quality of the stone material, complex sorting into different material classes is necessary during dismantling. The building department plans to reuse around 60% of the stones and store them in the city stone warehouse, the rest will delivered as recycled building material.
