As part of the VgV process, a planner for services for the remediation of contaminated sites through soil replacement with hydraulic securing of the old deposit on the east power plant site, the coal belt bridge section in the area of the former coal mining plant in Stuttgart-East is to be identified and commissioned in stagest.
On the site of the EnBW power plant in Stuttgart-East lies the old deposit "power plant site east, partial area of coal belt bridge, area of former coal mining plant" (ISAS no. 523_2).
The existing soil and groundwater contamination was caused by previous filling of gravel pits withcaused by gasworks residues. Due to its location in the core zone of the mineral spring protection area, there is a need for action for renovation.
In recent years, a large part of the contamination has already been removed. Now there is to be a previously inaccessible residual damage with an area of around 600 m2be renovated. The renovation plan provides for preliminary excavation above the groundwater pressure level and deep excavation in saturated ground with shoring elements using the slide rail method. During the measure, around 8, 200 tons of soil material are expected to be collected for disposal.
