In 2023, the Algerian government, through a request emanating from the Directorate General of Forests in its capacity as national partner in the field of national protection and management of national forestry, requested FAO to support the Development of an emerging and innovative solution for the prevention and management of forest fires. Upon receipt of the said request, the FAO initiated the process of mobilizing the necessary funds and call for competition according to the UNGM-FAO procedure for the selection of a qualified and competent service provider in the matter. A priority request for Algeria, the technical assistance of FAO intervenes through the mobilization of financing on the additional fund RNE 2023. This technical assistance aims to contribute to the improvement of prevention and the fight against Forest fires, to alleviate the phenomenon of degradation of forest and agricultural heritage.
