Introduction: The World Bank is seekingexpressions of interest from qualified consulting firms to design and implementa real time corridor monitoring system for the Central Corridor in Tanzania.This assignment is part of a broader initiative to improve the efficiency, resilience, and sustainability of the Central Corridor andemerging domestic trade routes in Tanzania.Background: The Central Corridor is a keyregional trade route connecting Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, and theDemocratic Republic of Congo to the Port of Dar es Salaam. Despite itsstrategic importance, the corridor suffers from systemic inefficiencies such asfragmented infrastructure, poor intermodal connectivity, and prolonged port andborder delays. For instance, average dwell times at Dar es Salaam portsignificantly exceed national targets, hindering competitiveness and increasingtrade costs. Eliminating transport and logistics bottlenecks along thecorridors will expand access to markets and services and foster inclusiveeconomic growth. Scope of Work: Thescope of the assignment will include: Designing and implementing a corridor performance system, using near real-time data.Support the Central Corridor Transport Transit Facilitation Agency (CCTTFA) in institutionalizing the system.
