Objective The ecological minimum water quantities of the Legnitzka and the Buchholzer water are to be met taking into account the legal basis (WHG, OGewV, WWRL) as well as the above-mentioned LAWA recommendation, the biotope runoff approach described therein or a possible using a simplified procedure. The minimum requirements necessary for the biocenosis with regard to water depth and flow velocity and the resulting flow rate are determined by measurements at various locations in the Identify the course of the water. The ecological minimum water flow derived from this should then be classified with regard to the flow regime (depending on the available data in relation to (quasi)natural and/or actual flow). The method used to determine the minimum ecological water flow should subsequently be analyzed and evaluated with regard to its practicability on the rivers, building on recommendations already developed from another study can be. Among other things, the necessity of the procedural steps, ways to simplify the process or the use or collection of additional data must be discussed, followed by practical recommendations for monitoring and compliance to derive minimum water flows from the bodies of water or to validate the recommendations that have already been developed. In addition, based on the findings from the inspections and measurements, possible measures to be taken on the sample bodies of water must be shown could lead to reducing the ecologically required minimum water flow. For example, in the case of unnaturally wide water profiles (e.g. for the drainage of swamp water in mining-influenced waters), measures can be taken to create a more natural design of the water course with structural elements mean that even lower flow rates are sufficient to settle and maintain the fauna and flora specific to the water type. There are still the specific...
